"Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass but learning how to dance in the rain", Vivan Greene
The world is my garden, I enjoy every moment of it
My name is Brianne and I hail from the BEAUTIFUL, Garden State, New Jersey. I've been working at Garden Centers since I was 19. I work at a Garden Center in Morris County, New Jersey were I am the assistant manager and the nursery department supervisor. After five years at my Garden Center, I have embraced the lifestyle and culture while working at a garden center. I also embrace working with my customers too and I love hearing about their gardening pursuits and their success in the backyard.
I have been working in garden centers for quite sometime now and I truly enjoy the customer service side of working at a garden center and interacting with both homeowners and professionals when it comes to my customer base. Spring time is my favorite at my garden center because of how fast paced it gets and how refreshed the atmosphere feels. One of my biggest accomplishments at my garden center is hosting a Pre-Order Event for Organic Vegetable and Herbs; my event gets bigger every year and I cannot wait to watch it grow. I also have a lot of pride in my nursery floor where I am for perfection and high standards year after year. I enjoy working with the professionals that come in because I get to expand my knowledge even more in the industry. I enjoy getting to know my customers and learning from them as well. I strive to never stop learning.
I find the field of ethnobotany fascinating and I’m really excited to start to study the field in my own way through research and making connections. The connection between plants and humans are really important to me. I feel there is an importance to learn and to grow especially as the world changes when it comes to horticulture. Anthropology is just as beautiful field as ethnobotany; The Hall of Cultures is my favorite section of the Museum of Natural History. I have a desire to learn about how these ancient cultures were and these societies functioned as a whole.
I have my degree in Landscape Design and Management, I am in the Garden Writers Association, and I've served multiple positions in the National FFA Organization. I owe everything to The National FFA Organization/Agricultural Education and I thank my father for suggesting to be apart of something greater than me and that would change my life as a whole. The National FFA Organization, formerly known as Future Farmers of America but changed in 1988 to represent ALL agricultural industries, makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth, and career success through Agricultural Education. Agricultural Education is an amazing three part structure which is classroom instruction, hands on experience outside of the classroom, and developing leadership skills to prepare students for the careers of science, business, and technology of agriculture. I thank my AgEd teacher and FFA adviser for investing in me who pushed me to step outside of my comfort zone to attain my degrees through this organization and developed my inner leader to serve my high school's FFA Chapter and prepared me to run for State Office where I visited schools with programs and gave leadership workshops, hosted leadership conferences with my team, served as a national delegate to move the organization forward, and served to conduct state business that would continue to grow New Jersey's Tradition of Excellence. I thank State Staff for never giving up on me as a person and I will always give homage to an organization that shaped me.
I have an artistic side of taking flower photos; you can find the link to my Instagram at the bottom of the page. I enjoy drinking kombucha, reading poetry, trail running during nice weather, a good plant pun, and I can watch the Office over and over again.
I feel extremely blessed where I am today and where I came from to share my passion with my customers, my readers, and my followers on social media. Thank you to everyone who has been apart of my journey, thank you to everyone who invested in me, thank you to everyone who has provided to my career success, and thank you to everyone who has provided knowledge and guidance through this journey that I am so excited to see what awaits me in the the future.
